The “mouse” was invented in Silicon Valley in 1963.
The name “Silicon Valley” originally referred to the region’s large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers, but eventually applied to all of the tech companies in the area.
The “Valley of Heart’s Delight”—as it was once known—is also home to some of the most beautiful towns in the nation, including Santa Clara, San Jose, Palo Alto, Saratoga, and one of Money Magazine’s picks for best places to live—Cupertino.
Companies like Apple, Amazon, eBay, and Google have put Silicon Valley on the map, attracting a steady stream of power families, young tech professionals and entrepreneurs year after year.
Silicon Valley is widely recognized as the tech capital of the world.
